Was working on a friends computer?

it had countless adware and 17 viruses when norton repaired it will not boot back into windows? What do I do now.Was working on a friends computer?
What happened was, some of the operating system files were damaged and when Norton got rid of the virus's or infections, it also got rid of those operating system files.

If you have the system CD or XP/Vista disk, try using REPAIR or if all else fails, REINSTALL.

You might also try safe mode and see if you can go back to an earlier restore point before all the infections, run a new scan and see if you can clean it up without damaging the operating system.

If all else fails - you know what the next step is, right? Clean install.
Try to get it to boot into safe mode %26amp; do a system restore. If that works get rid of Norton. That program causes more problems than it fixes. If your friend wants to go with an A/V software that he can buy- go out %26amp; get ESET NOD32 at http://www.eset.com

It costs around $40.

I use it to protect my computer that I run 2 website businesses from %26amp; the company that hosts my websites uses it on their servers. Neither myself nor my hosting company has ever had one problem with it %26amp; it finds problems that Norton misses. (Owner of hosting company used Norton before switching to NOD32)Was working on a friends computer?
