If you were comparing a ribosome to a part/program on a computer what would it be?

I would compare a ribosome to a on demand compiler like in Java. It takes the "source code" a.k.a. RNA and "compiles" it in to "machine readable" DNA and it does this while the "program" a.k.a. life is active.
