People have frozen in the upper atmosphere and have thawed quickly on descent and survived. The mobile phone did freeze up up the GPS kept working registering the proof of the height and temperature. I saw it a few weeks ago on a repeat of "amazing survival stories" on TV. It was a paragliding competition in australia where they were caught in a storm and the female pilot survived. I also saw a show where the pilot of a jumbo was sucked out the window. The others hung on to him and he too survived by descending quickly.
Re equipment. - the Apollo 13 froze on its way back to earth. Everything was dripping water but I think it still worked.

What computer brand is the best?!?
I'm looking to buy a new laptop today under $550 I was looking to buy a HP but I hear the have failures of memory. I need a laptop for school work, and word processing. I also want an intel processor. Any recommendations? Thanks .What computer brand is the best?!?
If you buy an ipad it can be just like a mac labtop but for less money. You can ever set it up to a keyboard and use it just like a lab top!

I've always been a PC girl and I currently have an HP, but I have to say Macs are the most reliable, high tech, and user-friendly!!
My friend got an amazing Dell from Sam's Club that works wonders. I think Acer and other little brands aren't worth the effort. Toshiba is a maybe for me, personally. Macs and anything by Apple is completely horrible and useless in my opinion. Some really like it, but I can get the same stuff or better for WAY cheaper.
I have had MAJOR problems with all three of my HP laptops that rendered them completely useless and broken within a year of purchase.

I also have the original tablet laptop: my screen turns around backwards and folds down so I can use the stylus pen to write and draw and whatnot. How do you reformat a computer?
i was going to reformat my computer when i realized i don't know how. so what i was wondering was how do i do it. i looked online and some people say you need cds and stuff, but i don't know. anyways if i reformat will i lose the programs in which my computer came with. when i got my computer, it was a gift an when i turned it on(which was right out of the box) it had programs on it such as Microsoft office 2007, windows 7, itunes, etc. so if i reformat will i lose those programs, because i have no disks for majority of the programs it started with. im not sure if this helps but my computer is a desktop, it is windows xp, its a dell inspiron, i got it on 12/25/07, and since then have added one gb of ram. if ytou know what i need to do can you please tell me, thanks.How do you reformat a computer?
Hi Joe. Yes, if you reformat, you will loose EVERYTHING. So back up all your stuff to CD's first.
You can use a piece of free software called GPARTED to reformat with:

What I think you should do is first call Dell and ask them what you can do to restore your computer. You could buy a set of those disks to restore your computer with the software, but you will have to ask Dell what to do about it. That is the only way I think you can retain your software.
You will probably loose all your itunes...I hate Apple, and the recording industry with their greed and digital rights management BS. I think if you pay for a song you should be able to make a legal backup copy which is the LAW in the copyright law, but they prevent people from making backups and violate your civil rights anyway. As long as a person is not pirating the music for sale, I don't see any reason why a person should not be allowed to burn copies for their own personal use and then restore them to another computer or play them as MP3's or whatever - but you know how things go in this country where only the rich people get their way with everything, right?
My suggestion again Joe is first, talk to Dell Support and ask them if you can buy a set of disks from them that will restore your computer to its original factory settings, including the installed licensed software.
Ultimately, if they will not sell you the software, you are going to loose it, because sooner or later EVERYONE has to reformat and reinstall the operating system, for whatever reason...and Dell knows that all right.

It seems like there is a "ultra pop up blocker" on my computer.. its not really working. I can get on the internet, but certain things don't show up (like pop ups) all my pop up blockers are off, and my AIM wont work and when i go to check my yahoo email, its all in weird form and not in the right layout.. anyone know? some links i cant access either.. I really wanna switch my major from math educaiton to computer science. I started my first class just for fun, just because I neeeded one more class at college to get full time credit, but my dad is not really supportive. He said the computer science does not lead anywhere these days due to IT majors, outsourcing, and that its either you become a software engineer or not, but he said computer science leads no where and I should just stay with teaching....dont get me wrong, my class is hard soemtimes. Last night I had to code a webpage, but did it!!!! I like it, its fascinaitng. But is my dad right, is computer science useless. Mark Zuckerberg used to major in it, so he must've had some plan.....what job opportunites will there be for me???Will it be hard for me to find a job after college if I major in computer science?
